# How to Add Your First Download

### Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure that you have:

1. A working WordPress website.
2. Download Monitor plugin installed and activated.

#### Steps to add your download

First, log into your WordPress admin area. In the Dashboard, locate and click on the Comdev Downloads section. Then, click the **Download Items** menu item than **Add New** button to start adding your first file.

Creating a download is quite similar to posting posts and pages. Start by giving your download a name and adding any necessary content. In the Upload File section, you can upload your file below the content area. You can also set the file version; if not specified, it will not be displayed.

Once you are happy with all the settings and options, you can hit the **Publish** button on the right side.
